Lion Maurice was born and raised in Callander, Ontario and was married to Tony in 1975 and had one son, David. Tony lost her long fight with Cancer in 1991.
Lion Maurice became a barber in 1965 and opened his own barber shop in 1975 and today works a mere 6 hours a week at the trade.
He joined the Callander Lions Club in 1970 and has held every position there is except secretary.
Lion Maurice has served as Zone Chair three times, Deputy District Governor twice and Region Chair three times. He has also served on numerous District Committees as Chair including Membership & Retention, Hearing & Sight, District A-5 Convention Chair in 2003 and Lions Foundation of Canada and Guide Dogs.
He has been the recipient of the Lion of the Year award for his club twice, has received an International Presidents Certificate of Appreciate for his dedicated service to Lionsism and a Melvin Jones Award.
He is currently a Director with the Callander Lions Club, a sitting Councilor for the Town of Callander.
His partner in service Lion Phyllis is a member of the Ferris Lions Club.
